  TOURNAMENT CHARITY

All donations raised through the Windy City Classic Foundation benefit the Michael Klein Memorial Fund and the Kathleen Warble Foundation in memory of Walter Payton and Jim Valvano.

The Michael Klein Memorial Fund supports Dr. Walter Stadler’s prostate cancer research at the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.  Dr Stadler and his team concentrate on the use of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, anti-angiogenic therapy, and molecularly targeted therapy for patients with locally advanced or metastatic prostate cancer. Anti-angiogenic therapy starves the cancer by attacking the blood vessels that tumors develop to obtain nourishment. His recent research includes development of molecular and imaging markers for predicting response to anti-angiogenic therapies.

The Kathleen Warble Foundation supports ovarian cancer research at the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Northwestern University. This division at Northwestern University focuses on the study of novel, individualized treatment strategies for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  Their research concentrates on developing improved surgical interventions and new pharmaceuticals, assessing alternative combinations of chemotherapy medications, and minimizing side effects from ovarian cancer treatment.
